Dear Fellows from Ain Kani:
At last we have a website that’s up and running, thanks to the dedicated and sincere volunteer efforts of Nada Abou Dehn (Beirut), Joni Halabi (Boston), Omar Safa (Beirut), Akram Breish (London), Sara Maher (New Jersey, USA) and their associates. They all proved beyond doubt that they are in the heart of modernity as H. E. Walid Joumblatt anticipated of our team a few months ago.
The main objective of this website is to unite all of us under one umbrella so we can share ideas, connect with one another, and help each other easily and efficiently. Not only will it provide, for the first time dedicated solely to Ain Kani, pertinent information about our dear village, its history, and its people, but it will also contain features to connect all of us. Most important is the database, which I urge every one of you to sign up on.
The purpose of this database is to contain key information about us, such as name, residence, education or occupation, interests, etc., in order to help link us to each other. This information will be contained in a secure place with a required password for privacy protection. By having this information in one place, the board will be able to:
- Identify members who can “help” intellectually, business-wise, career-wise, or even financially.
- Link these “helpers” with members who need help, again whether it’s finding or posting a job, locating a brand of medication that is badly needed, obtaining career advice, etc.
- Quantify data about Ain Kani and its residents when asking for grants from the Lebanese government or international NGOs, who require such detail.
Of note, three members from Ain Kani who were looking to find their career paths outside the village have landed jobs, thanks to some information we already had. Two families with dire need for medication they could not afford were helped, thanks to a few volunteers who heard about it through this network. The opportunities to help once we have more complete information on AinKanites are endless.
Therefore, I urge every adult from Ain Kani to complete your profile as soon as possible.
Help us help our dear village and its residents prosper, and in some cases, just “live”. With your commitment and effort, we can help Ain Kani be a model village in Lebanon.
Thank you,
Issam Maher
President
